Plaza Hotel attracts thousands of job seekers - KTNV ABC,Channel 13,Las Vegas ...
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV)- The Plaza Hotel and Casino received more than 25,000 website hits and 8,000 applications at the first day of their job fair today, forcing the online job application web site to temporarily shut down.
Job seekers packed the newly renovated hotel and lined the streets outside for a shot at one of the 500 to 800 positions that the hotel is looking to fill before re-opening in a few weeks.
"While we expected a large turnout, the response to our job fair surpassed even our highest expectations," said Henry Terry, director of human resources. "We appreciate everyone's patience as we work to process everyone's applications."
Three hundred of the 800 jobs are expected to go to former Plaza Hotel employees, but that didn't stop thousands of hopefuls from attending the fair and applying online.
Many people were frustrated when they were sent home after waiting in line at the fair today, because they had not first submitted an application online and secured an interview appointment.
The website company has confirmed that the job application website will be back online tomorrow, June 28. Job seekers who already submitted an application but have not yet scheduled an interview will be contacted via email when additional interview slots are open.
The job fair is still expected to go on for two weeks. To schedule an interview appointment online, visit the Plaza Hotel website .
