In Trinidad, ex-FIFA exec Jack Warner loses half his ministerial duties in ...
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad — A Cabinet shake-up in Trinidad and Tobago is leaving former international soccer executive Jack Warner with less governmental duties in the Caribbean nation.
Warner had been the minister of the Works and Transport Ministry. But Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar (KAM-la PER-sad BUH-sess-ur) has created a new transport ministry, taking away Warner’s responsibilities for port and airport authorities, the national airline and the state-owned bus service.
The reshuffle announced late Sunday comes about a week after Warner quit as a FIFA vice president and soccer’s governing body dropped a bribery investigation of him.
Trinidad’s prime minister says her decision to change the Cabinet had nothing to do with the controversy.

Dr. Iva Gloudon- The New T&T High Commisoner
Dr. Iva Gloudon was appointed as the new High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica February 2011. It is important for T&T nationals in Jamaica to be acquainted with their High Commission. I'm always surprised when T&T nationals are unaware of the HC or not interested in its existence. I was extremely pleased to meet Dr. Gloudon a couple weeks ago and was delighted to attend her welcome function on Wednesday. Dr. Gloudon wants T&T nationals to take their presence in Jamaica more seriously. She presented some challenges to us- How can we help each other? How can we contribute to Jamaican society and how can we improve the Jamaica-Trinidad and Tobago relationship? I applaud Dr. Gloudon's charge to our nationals to do more than just fete (although I am not discrediting the importance of the fete!). So if you are a T&T national, please ensure that you have registered with the High Commission at the Pan Caribbean building in New Kingston.
In 2007 Dr. Gloudon became the recipient of a multi-million dollar grant from the Inter American Development Bank/Ministry of Education. This was in response to a proposal for the training of seventy-seven local physical education teachers. These teachers represented every geographic area in Trinidad & Tobago and were the first ever cohort of physical education teachers to receive a Bachelor of Education Physical Education – Secondary degree at a local institution. They graduated in October 2010.
