The undefined future of Bainbridge business
Just how this will never change, however, remains to be discussed.
City Council candidates have preached aims to stimulate new businesses on the island, city staff say the city now needs new revenue streams and the current City Council is preparing to pass a land code updated to use. Yet business people are islanders face their own sets of needs.
"We're just on the verge of not having enough space for business expansion again," said Sherri Watson, commercial and residential real estate in Johansson-Clark. "I'm for entrepreneurs, because I do not want all residents on the Bainbridge ferry.I want people to live and work on Bainbridge, but we have not created an environment where it is possible to do that. "
The council is on target to adopt the Land Code updated Oct. 12 using, with a first and second reading on September 14 and 28 respectively. "He has certainly not become easier to find employment on the island that pays the wages it costs to live here," said Watson."How can we survive as a society if we do not have diversity, we send every resident outside the island to work and we do not support the entrepreneurial spirit? It is not surprising that we have so few young 20 somethings with their energy and ideas. They can not afford it.
